Over the Moon Grateful…

We are. Absolutely over the moon, top of the mountain, hit it out of the ballpark thankful for the amazing love that our sisters have shown since Sister Effect started just over two months ago. We began our work by emphasizing the need for clean water in South Sudan. We’ll also be highlighting other efforts and partnerships that focus on care for orphans, female health and female economic opportunity in the weeks and months ahead. We’re so very excited about this. But before we move forward, we wanted to celebrate our sisters and thank our God for where we’ve so recently been. Because you cared and took action, Sister Effect raised funds enough to drill a well in South Sudan’s village of Warkar! We will be doing this through our partnership with Every Village who is as excited as we are that lives of women and girls will be drastically different in the next couple of months! Right now, the Warkar female population walks hours daily to fetch water that comes from a contaminated source. A new village well will change this, and time formerly spent on water treks can be used to plant and irrigate local gardens, tend other family and community affairs and permit school-age girls to improve their education. Better health from access to potable water will also become a reality. Clean water really does change everything and our amazing sisters are part of this change … Please know that this is an enormous accomplishment and it wouldn’t have been possible without you and your love for our beautiful South Sudanese sisters. Here are just some of the creative things that many of you here did to raise awareness and resources…* Nine year old Jillian shared hand-written flyers to tell her friends about Sister Effect and the need in South Sudan Mary I. harvested and replanted beautiful flowers from her garden and sold them as baskets Staci R. put her love of shopping to work and sold specialty Christmas items at a ladies church boutique Elementary and middle school sisters, Mary Catherine and Ellie baked treats, mixed up lemonade and enlisted friends to sell goodies – despite crazy-hot summer temps! Mikaela M. decided to share a portion of proceeds from her incredible photography business to help bring clean water to South Sudan Caroline C. and roommate Meredith shared funds from a wedding event catered by their business Chelsea D. and her friends Ashley and Amy held a bake sale and sold tons of delicious, home-baked treats And so, so many of you donated other funds to the work of Sister Effect and our Water Effect campaign.download movie Guardiansfree hosting no ads So we wanted to take a moment and say just how deeply grateful we are for each of you. We wanted to tell you how much we’re loving the new community that God is building in and through our sisterhood. And we’re so incredibly excited about how He’ll take the love and momentum that’s building in this part of the world and use it to bring hope, transformation and partnership for and with our sisters in South Sudan. Thank you, our wonderful sisters. With our whole hearts, we’re grateful for how you’re partnering in this work and we’re treasuring the chance to get to know you and think with you about ways that we can all ‘do our thing’ so that we build community while we come alongside our South Sudanese sisters. Please let us hear from you. We cherish your thoughts, your ideas and suggestions. None of us has this all figured out but...

Cause and Effect

College roommates Carolyn and Meredith started a small business about a year ago originally intending to bake cakes for different events. They tell us “it flopped, because we were both liberal arts majors and not business majors.” Post-graduation, they moved back to Houston separately but still loved to bake and cook together.  So they reinvented their business and decided on a slogan: ‘,’ with the intent of sharing proceeds from their baking to accomplishing cheap phentermine God’s work in the world. A month ago, the duo was asked to cater dinner for a small wedding.  They happily agreed with the intention of sharing a portion of their profits to help with Sister Effect’s efforts in bringing clean water to women and girls in South Sudan.  They tell us that they were thrilled to share and look forward to helping with Sister Effect events and projects in the future. We’re so thankful, ladies, for your enthusiasm and love for our sisters in South...
