Mary Idiaquez loves to cook – and to garden. An avid community volunteer who works with Houston’s at-risk inner city population, Mary has cooked gallons and gallons of her famous pepper jelly to benefit her city’s homeless families. But as her own daughter, Sarah, spent three months as a nurse in a remote South Sudan clinic, Mary began caring deeply about women and girls in this new nation. So she decided that she would do her thing in a different way; pepper jelly was for her local fundraising, and she would use her green thumb to offer better health for women and girls in South Sudan! At a recent boutique, Mary sold beautiful plants and cuttings from her own garden and shared her earnings with us. What an inspiration…we’re so grateful for you, Mary!
